Jairampur, January 4 (MExN): Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on January 4 in Jairampur, Arunachal Pradesh, to honour the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Ganesh Bahadur Rai, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous), who laid down his life in the line of duty on January 4, 1975, at Kabza village in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

A Guard of Honour was accorded during the ceremony as officers, junior commissioned officers and other ranks paid homage to the Braveheart, reaffirming the Assam Rifles’ deep respect for his valour, courage and selfless devotion to duty.

As part of the tribute, Assam Rifles personnel also visited the family of the martyr, expressing gratitude and solidarity and reiterating the assurance that the Force and the nation stand firmly with the families of its Bravehearts.

The Shaurya Chakra awarded posthumously to late Lance Naik Ganesh Bahadur Rai stands as a testament to his exceptional gallantry and supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. His legacy continues to inspire generations of Assam Rifles personnel and reinforces the Force’s commitment to duty and national security.

The wreath-laying ceremony served as a reminder of the rich legacy of sacrifice upheld by Assam Rifles and reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to honour its personnel and uphold the ideals of courage, honour and service to the nation.
