DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has stated that it wanted to “reassure the populace of Nagaland that irrespective of the provocations and false allegations, peace shall prevail in Nagaland”. Stating that the Assam Rifles was committed to preserve the peace and harmony in Nagaland, a press note from the PRO IGAR North pointed out that the “people of Nagaland must realize that the hard earned gains made in the ongoing peace process cannot be lost at any cost”. “We have come too far to retrace our footsteps”, it stated.
“Everyone realizes that the current impasse has been enforced upon us and that despite grave provocations we shall continue to conduct our operations in a manner so as to live upto our motto of –the friends of the hill people”, the press note stated while adding that as in the past, its current and future actions shall cause no hindrances or disruption to the lives of the “common law abiding citizens of the state”. Life in Nagaland shall and must continue as normal, it stated.
The Assam Rifles pointed out that “every law abiding citizen of Nagaland must be reassured of our undying commitment to the peace process and the desire to see Nagaland grow from strength to strength”. “In a democracy no individual or cause can be placed above the “will, aspirations and desires of the people and citizens”. It stated that during this “auspicious week of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the NBCC we pray to the Lord Almighty to continue to shower his blessings on the people of Nagaland”.
