Assembly witnesses uproar

Kohima, Mar 21 (MExN): The budget session today witnessed pandemonium as opposition Congress members stalled the assembly proceedings for more than 10 minutes during zero hour after they refused to take their seats. They were demanding an unconditional apology from industries and commerce minister H Khekiho Zhimomi for a remark he made during question hour.

The opposition Congress members registered protest over the remark of the industries minister for using the word ‘generosity” while replying a supplementary question relating to the NIDC office Mokokchung Committee report.

The minister withdrew the remark later. But the Congress was still unsatisfied and continued to demand unconditional apology. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio intervened and said since the minister had withdrawn the remark there was no point of asking for an apology again. Only then did the session begin.
