ASU launches Cell-Phone Outreach Project

Kohima, July 21 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) held a short launching programme for the Cell-Phone Outreach Project cum felicitation of ASU Tribunal General at ASU office in Kohima on July 20.

The project has been initiated with the aim to address some of the challenges and barriers faced by students from economical underprivileged families due to the shifting of remote learning owning to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ASU Secretary Education, Thepfurüya Theunuo while sharing the concept note of the project said that the non-availability or limited cell-phone has posed a grief challenge for students. Observing the problem, he said that ASU of 2021-23 tenure have launched the project for the targeted students. “It is not a mere project of distributing cell phones but with the interest to help those who are genuinely in need, goal-driven and sincere in their studies,” he added.

Earlier, ASU President Bisevi Nakhro chaired the programme Rev Zakiebeinyü Peseyie said prayer. The word of gratitude was delivered by Mhalevilie Medoze, General Secretary. In the first phase, through sponsors and benefactors, 30 cell-phones where distributed. While the project is on a rolling basis, ASU will continue to identity needy students and cater to the same, the Union stated in a press release. 

During the programme, the ASU also announced Neizokho Belho as Tribunal General with Vizokho Zashümo and Abei Thepa as members.
