Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland (ATAN) today said it is resuming its hunger strike from April 18 from Kohima and Dimapur simultaneously. The organization said that the decision was taken following the expiry of an ultimatum served to the Nagaland government “for implementation of the cabinet approval.”
The organization met today, April 10 and decided to resume their earlier-suspended indefinite hunger strike, a note from the ATAN received here today said. “Despite submitting several representations and getting written assurances from the government for early redressal of aggrieved teachers issue, the government’s attitude has been apathetic which reflects government’s lack of will and intent to solve the long pending humanitarian crisis faced by the deprived teachers,” the note said.
All members of the ATAN from Dimapur district are informed to assemble outside the office of the DEO of Dimapur. The other districts’ members are to assemble outside the Directorate of School Education in Kohima on the said date by 9:00 am. “Non-cooperating members will be doing so on their on risk,” the note said.
