Athletes power Nagaland to continue lead in medal tally

At athletics event in the ongoing 3rd Northeast Games 2024 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima

DIMAPUR/KOHIMA, MARCH 20 (MExN): Nagaland's athletes demonstrated remarkable skill and determination on the second day of the 3rd North East Games 2024, securing a total of 39 medals. This exceptional performance, comprising 18 Gold, 8 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals has propelled Nagaland to the top position in the medal standings for the second consecutive day. 

Following closely behind, Manipur claimed a total of 34 medals, with 12 Gold, 9 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals, while Assam demonstrated their prowess with 35 medals in total, including 11 Gold, 16 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals.

As the competition intensifies, spectators eagerly anticipate whether Manipur will surpass Nagaland or if Assam will emerge as a surprise leader. 
Some notable winners from Nagaland on Wednesday include Tsuchoi T secured Gold (38:37.64) in the women’s 10000m run.  Venuzo Dawhuo bagged Gold for the state in Men’s shot put with a record at 12.99 m. Nekhoto Tinyi, Kevichutuo Lhoungu, Rongesnmeren and Neiketoulie Belho bagged another Gold medal to host Nagaland in Men’s 4X 100m relay (42.77)
