Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Dimapur, Medziphema block conducted a demonstration programme at Seitheke Basa on June 26.
A press release from BTM Medziphema block stated that a practical demonstration on ‘cultivation practices of groundnut’ was conducted by E Lireni Kikon, ACTO (Plant protection) KVK Jharnapani and BTT Convenor (Medziphema block) as the resource person.
She spoke on land preparation, seed treatment, sowing time, intercultural operations and pest management. She stressed on proper spacing while sowing the seeds and on the importance of earthing up which provides the medium for peg development.
Later, a demonstration on application of yellow sticky insect trap at okra and chilly plantation for insect pest management was conducted by Yatetla Longkumer, ATM (Medziphema block).
9 women farmers attended the demonstration programme which ended with distribution of groundnut seeds, yellow sticky insect trap, neem oil, rodenticide and insecticides to the participants.
