ATMA Phek organises farmer-scientist interaction

Phek, April 3 (MExN): ATMA Phek organised farmer-scientist interaction at Horticultural Research Farm (HRF), Pfutsero on March 29.

The thematic area for programme was on agronomic and horticultural crops and its cultivation technologies stated a press release. The programme was chaired by VethiluTheluo (DPD) ATMA Phek. 

Dr Hannah Krujia, ACTO (Agronomy) highlighted on the production technology on Quality Protein Maize (QPM) and its importance, advantages and benefits over the local maize varieties cultivated in Phek districts. She discussed about technology practices of other crops (rice, millets, potato and beans etc) and highlighted awareness and importance on the various Indigenous medical plants. 

Dr Rinku Bharali, CTO (Horticulture), discussed the production technology of Kiwi, onion and other horticultural crops. He emphasised on the importance of adopting the scientific methods of production and other important cultural practices (intercropping, mixing cropping and crop rotation etc). 

During the interaction session, doubts and queries were clarified by the resources persons. Altogether 20 farmers participated in the programme and it concluded with vote of thanks by Vinoka Y Kiba (DPD).
