Wokha, October 21 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision is to make India a fully self-reliant nation by 2047.
Addressing an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan Vidhansabha Sammelan', Patton stated that the central initiative aims to make every citizen self-reliant by harnessing the strength, talent, and enterprise of its people. The event was organised by the BJP 37 Tyui Mandal at the party's office in Wokha.
Patton cited examples of successful initiatives, such as the One District One Product (ODOP) program in Uttar Pradesh and the upcoming Banana Festival in Wokha, as part of this vision.
He emphasised PM Modi's focus on developing North East India, with policies aimed at benefiting the region. Patton mentioned the introduction of GST in 2017 and the government's ongoing efforts to review and improve it.
“Businessmen are responding positively to the government's new policies, and even religious leaders are supporting the BJP party and praying for PM Modi,” he said.
He urged everyone to work towards fulfilling PM Modi's vision and achieving the goals of the campaign, aligning with the ideals of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas'.
On the state's political scenario, the Deputy CM welcomed the Chief Minister's decision to rejoin the NPF party, stating that multiple regional parties in a small state like Nagaland are not very feasible.
Meanwhile, BJP Wokha Unit extended its full support to the ongoing merger of the NDPP, led by Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, with the NPF Party. It said this “historic move” will strengthen the regional political landscape, fostering greater development and progress in the state, and expressed hope that it would usher in a new era of cooperation and unity.
The programme was chaired by Chumben Enny, General Secretary of the 37 Tyui Mandal. Karyakartas from several Mandals attended the event.
Nongothung Kikon, Vice President of BJP Wokha and Convenor for Atmanirbhar, led the Karyakartas in taking the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Swadeshi Pledge'.
