Ato calls for contribution to society

Chairman of Nagaland Hotels Limited, Ato Yepthomi called upon citizens of Dimapur to contribute to the society towards progress and development. Addressing a gathering on the third day of Dimapur Night Carnival (DNC) at Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur, Ato recalled how the first night carnival was started at erstwhile Church Road and gradually organized on a bigger scale at Super Market. He also recalled the contributions made by founders of DNC some of whom had passed away. Ato said Nagaland was more peaceful these days comparing to earlier days when there was no ceasefire and encouraged the people to take advantage of the peaceful situation to march together towards a progressive society. On day three, the special event was fashion night. Meanwhile, Convenor of DNC, Akashe Yepthomi who is also the President of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the objective behind organizing the event was to promote local entrepreneurs and artists by providing them a platform. “All performers are locals and we are not bringing in any artists from outside. The reason is to provide a platform to our own local people,” he said. He said that the organizers have beautified the location with lightings on trees to give a better festive look than earlier carnivals. Akashe also urged the stall owners to follow the guidelines provided to them during issuance of forms and reminded them that organizers will inspect the stalls from time to time. He said the DNC has been successful with wide participation from the public till date with no untoward incident. Convenor of DNC Stall Committee, Omega Yeptho said that the organizers have set up more than 300 stalls and standardized it with canopies. He informed that the yearly stall allotments have been increasing. According to the organizers, 15, 000 persons have been thronging the DNC each day since it began on December 12.
