Phek, February 22 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner Phek, Mikha Lomi who is also the District Principal Census Officer visited the villages of Zapami, Lasumi, Lewoza/JNV center and Khezhakheno on February 19 under Pfutsero sub-division to inspect and intensify the ongoing census works. In all the villages, the DC gave a short address and also interacted with the census charge officers, master trainers, supervisors and enumerators calling on them to work sincerely and diligently by the rule and to bring out an accurate census figures.
Saying that census functionaries have to avoid any political pressure or mal practices, which seek to inflate figures, but instead they have to stand firm and any unwanted indulgence from any quarter should be immediately reported to the administration. Not even a single individual or household should be left out of the head count and any neglect on their part will be punishable under law. At the same time he also appealed to the village functionaries not to force or insist to increase the figures, as it would affect the carriers of the government servant. Anyone seeking clarification should not hesitate to clear their doubts and all have to work together to complete their work at the stipulated time. The DC stated time and again that accurate figure and data are a must for any meaningful planning therefore we have to give the correct census for any future development. He also visited some houses in the villages and verified the census sheets of the enumerators to detect any anomalies in the census figures.
The DC also visited the landslide-affected areas in Lasumi village. It was learnt that a major landslide, which occurred in the middle of the village in 2010, affected around forty houses/families. Seeing the plight of the villagers the Deputy Commissioner gave Rupees one lakh from the natural calamity relief fund. With the fund the villagers conducted a mass social work by constructing a small canal/drainage, however the villagers pleaded to the concern authorities for more funds, which is needed for the purpose.
