Wokha, December 15 (MExN): The District Administration Wokha under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organized an awareness campaign on early registration of pregnancies, institutional deliveries and birth registration cum orientation and sensitization of grassroots level functionaries for ASHA on December 14 at Deputy Commissioner, Conference hall, Wokha.
District Programme Manager, NHM, Wokha, Tongpang Matsung, while speaking on the role of ASHA opined that every ASHA must ensure home based care so that proper care and attention can be given.
He also stated that early registration of pregnancies is very important.
“ASHAs must ensure that they go from house to house and detect those pregnant mothers and put on record in their register and insist on Ante Natal Care (ANC) and institutional delivery,” he asserted.
The programme manager also insisted workers to visit houses and give advice as to how proper care should be taken for the safety of both the mother and child.
“Timely monitoring of health condition should also be carried out and administration of vaccines and immunizations should be meted.
SDO (C), Wokha Chonpenthung Ezung also spoke to the workers. Stating that they are the bridge and link between the people and the authorities, he urged them to inform during emergencies for timely care and help to be initiated.
The function was chaired by EAC, Wokha, Riku Khutso, a DIPR release here stated.
