Awareness on POSH Act held in Tseminyu

TSEMINYU, SEPTEMBER 19 (MExN): The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tseminyu on Thursday organized an awareness session on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for all the DCPU and Childhelpline staff in the district.

The session was led by Advocate Neivotuonuo Rutsa, Legal-cum-Probation Officer, DCPU Tseminyu. She underlined that “Compliance with the POSH Act is not optional, it is mandatory. A safe workplace is not a privilege, it is every woman’s right.”

Rutsa explained that the POSH Act was enacted to provide a safe and secure workplace environment for women and to address complaints of sexual harassment. She elaborated on procedures under the Act, including filing complaints, inquiry processes and remedial actions. She also introduced “SHe-Box” (Sexual Harassment Electronic Box), an online platform where women employees can file complaints of workplace harassment directly. Participants were encouraged to visit the SHe-Box website to register complaints and track their status.

It was also informed during the session that the Internal Complaints Committee under DCPU Tseminyu has been constituted to address sexual harassment complaints at the workplace.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, urging all participants to be aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Act and to promote safe and respectful workplaces.
