Zunheboto, April 25 (MExN): The Sakhi-One Stop Centre Zunheboto organized an awareness programme on violence against women and children at Usutomi Village Council Hall on April 25.
The guest speaker, Nodal Director & Governing Board Member, CHILDLINE India Foundation, Subonenba Longkumer gave a brief presentation on CHILDLINE 1098 Nagaland and highlighted the activities, cases and structure of CHILDLINE 1098.
A press release said that in his address, Longkumer stated that “many cases go unreported in Nagaland due to fear and stigma of being rejected in the society.”
He also stated that Nagaland being a “tribal land,” children are brought up and guided well with traditional values, discipline and knowledge, which in the long run protects and indoctrinates the children from committing criminal offences. Thus, it should be passed down to the younger generation to preserved and be protected.
Sakhi-One Stop Centre Zunheboto, Centre Administration Alovini Yeptho spoke on Legal Rights for Women, Domestic Violence Act 2015 on Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006., OSC Zunheboto, Case Worker, Helito L. Chophi spoke on Juvenile justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual offences Act 2012.
Toli L Aye Counsellor, Sakhi-OSC Zunheboto moderated the programme and Tovi K Assumi gave the concluding remark.
