MEDZIPHEMA, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun (ICAR-NRCM), Medziphema, organised an awareness programme on "Livelihood Enhancement of Mithun Farmers through Technology Interventions" at Khehoi village in Niuland district on Wednesday.

The event witnessed the participation of 80 farmers from the area.

Dr Girish Patil S., Director of ICAR-NRCM, highlighted the Centre’s efforts in promoting Mithun farming and underlined the strengths and potential for expanding Mithun rearing in the region.

Dr H Inato Jimomi, Joint Director, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Government of Nagaland, delivered the keynote address, focusing on the importance of semi-intensive farming practices.

Dr Narendra V N spoke on entrepreneurial opportunities in Mithun farming, while Dr L S Devi shared initiatives being undertaken by the Centre to enhance Mithun production.

A farmer-scientist interaction session, led by Dr Jayanta Kumar Chamuah, addressed issues related to piggery and poultry farming. The programme concluded with the distribution of livestock medicines to participating farmers to support animal health and husbandry practices.
