Azo asks Centre to ink Naga solution before Christmas

KOHIMA, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): Leader of NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today questioned the Government of India as to why it is “stopping for the final inking of the decade old Naga political issue.”

A press release from the NPF Central HQ reported Azo as demanding that the final inking of the Naga solution should be done before Christmas but before the final signing asked the Centre to bring out the common draft and place it before the public domain for the consensus of public opinion.

He said this during the 52nd Phek Basa Sports meet as the inaugural guest. The NPF leader also asserted that the NPF is committed towards bringing a final solution to the Naga political issue which is honourable, acceptable and inclusive, and the priority of the party is for solution and not election.

Azo added that the NPF is not a party that chases after power or position but stands for the cause of the Naga people and the welfare of the Naga people as its priority. He maintained that the NPF has joined the UDA government not for any other reason but to have a collective effort of all the legislators for the early settlement of the Naga political issue.

The NPF Legislature leader also asserted that its MLAs are ready to pave way if any solution comes. However, he said if the Election Commission of India announces election, then the NPF will have no option but to contest the election. He expressed optimism that the NPF will form the next government, stating that the party, which represents the Naga people is gaining its stand day by day.

Azo also urged the BJP led Central Government to be faithful with its election slogan of ‘Election for Solution’, adding that the BJP should live up to its commitment.
