Kohima, February 23 (MExN): Naga People’s Front (NPF) Legislature Party leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today stated that violence and threats are unacceptable which should not be used to silence the voters.’

While speaking at the campaign for NPF candidate Wanglem Konyak for 43 Tapi Assembly Constituency in Mon district on February 23, Azo condemned the Koridang incident and other related pre-poll violence in the state. Azo said that he is saddened by the merciless killing of a youth, and asked the law enforcing authorities to investigate the matter at the earliest and book the culprits involved.

He also expressed grief at the loss of a precious life and stands in solidarity with the people of Chungtia during “this difficult time.”

Later, addressing NPF rally at Shangnyu village, Azo said that “Irrespective of party and with due respect to the authorities, it is unconstitutional to issue directives against a certain candidate/leader on public platforms.

Imposing orders on them is very much against the norms of a ‘Free and Fair election,’ he stated.

“It is also a sign of breakdown of Constitutional machinery and election norm under the Law, the same may also have a negative impact of the Naga Political Issue,” Azo stated in reference to the order that has gone viral against Nagaland BJP President.
