I am not writing this article to offend any individuals or to demoralize any institutions, however, I would like to highlight the larger portion of submerge challenges that is creating a havoc in our society. I therefore, would like to urge all the right thinking citizens to raise your voice and give an effort to bring justice for us and for the younger generations.
Recently, a great revelation has shocked many of us, particularly the educated unemployed youths like me, on the issue of “bogus teacher appointments”. Needless to say, it has been somehow achieved up to a length with extreme effort to establish the truth. Perhaps, this could be one of the biggest achievements made so far in our society, in current times. However, a bigger challenge remains; the fact still goes on that many vacant posts are filled without publication or notification. These jobs are filled up by persons who are related to the higher up, so called the VIPs. I was surprised to see even grade-one jobs being filled without conducting interviews!! For instance, some of the recently upgraded government colleges or higher secondary schools; there are many “Bogus teachers/lectures”, who are directly appointed by the VVIPs. Look around the other government departments where there are number of shadow job holders as well. None is free from this “bogus appointment” concern.
I have attempted NPSC for the last several years… where just for 100 (Max) posts, thousands and thousands of aspirant youth competes. And since, it’s unfortunate that employment opportunity like in other cities is fewer in Nagaland, I solely depend on government job, so for many educated youths. But it is very discouraging when many unadvertised jobs are silently filled with “backups from the higher bosses”. Even grade-one jobs!!! Honestly, I am tired of attempting the NPSC after all the allegations it has earned, I am hopeless and helpless because I don’t have any related VVIPs. This trend has been a way of life for many years now. May be this is where we need to reflect back once again. I am sure there are many youths like me hoping against hope. I guess this is where individuals and organizations from all section of Naga society should stand together and fight for JUSTICE. I would insist on the NSF to pilot this renaissance in our society where the “BEST” is selected for the right job. I would like to see more of such “filtering process” in all the departments, not just in the education sector.
Atoi, Dimapur
