Urges newly-formed UDA Govt to pursue the issue outside the State
Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): The Janata Dal United (JDU), Nagaland Unit today stated that a final decision regarding the Naga political issue is now in the court of the Government of India (GOI), and not with others.
The JDU is of the “firm opinion that the ball of the Naga Political Issue is no more with the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) or the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isac/Muivah),” asserted the JDU in a statement issued by its Publicity Wing.
The NNPGs has time and again clearly stated that the talk is concluded and is waiting on the GoI to invite them for inking the charter of agreement; as far as the NSCN (IM) is concern, it is a well known fact that without the recognition of its Flag and Constitution, there will be no solution, it elaborated.
“In the above given light, there is no obscurity about the position of state of the Naga Political Issue. It is obviously in the court of the GoI,” it stated.
Accordingly, the JDU Nagaland Unit argued that there is no point for the newly christened United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to loiter in and around Nagaland with a supposed “intention of white-washing themselves of living up to their stand by meeting the different Naga National Groups.”
Instead, they should now focus their attention moving out of Nagaland and make efforts to convince not only the GoI but other different political parties to come to empathy with the unique nature of the Naga political issue, it said.
The UDA must be ready to “take to the streets to register their resentment if GoI does not resolve the issue honourably,” it opined, citing the case of Arvind Kejriwal, who as a Chief Minister of Delhi, “staged a Dharna at the residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for the cause of the Union Territory of Delhi,” with his cabinet colleagues.
The Naga political issue is much bigger than what Kejriwal has stood for, it stated, justifying the recommendation.
“It must be a lesson for the UDA to emulate such striving steadfastness if they really meant by the frequent statements being publicised in the name of opposition-less government,” it added.
In this connection, the JDU further said that while the formation of UDA is historic, “posterity will be the judge if the historic action actually lived up to its purpose.”
