Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): In order to facilitate and promote better linkages for bamboo craftsmen in the state, the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) organised a meeting between entrepreneurs of its micro-processing units and Arunachal Ply Industry Ltd, Timpact, Nanosteel and Maisang - the companies that have been buying semi-finished products from the micro-processing units since 2006. Gurunanak Macheneries, the company that provide tools and machineries to craftsmen also attended the meeting at the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur today. This is the first meeting between the entrepreneurs and the companies.
There are 43 micro-processing units in the state that are producing semi-finished products like square incent sticks, flatten posts, bamboo strips, mats and sliver. These units have been doing business directly with the companies based in Assam and Meghalaya, supplying semi-finished products. However, due to the inability of the units to meet the demands of the buyers, the meeting deliberated on bringing innovative means to enhance production. It also sought to upgrade machineries used in making bamboo handicraft. It may be mentioned that Nagaland Bamboo Mission is only a felicitator and is not involved in the business aspect.
