BAN honours retiring Chief Secretary Dr Alam

Business Association of Nagas (BAN) organised a farewell for Dr J Alam IAS (Retd), Chief Secretary of Nagaland, on his retirement.

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) on Saturday organised a farewell for Dr J Alam IAS (Retd), Chief Secretary of Nagaland, on his retirement. 

The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, senior government officials, and BAN executive council members and office bearers, stated a press release.

Dr Alam, in his address, called it “the greatest honour of my life to serve the people of Nagaland as Chief Secretary.” He lauded BAN as “one of the few organizations genuinely supporting the state’s economic ecosystem,” acknowledging its strong policy advocacy and official communications. While noting existing challenges, he expressed confidence that Nagaland, with its rich natural and human resources, “can achieve developed state status within 20 years.” 

He also informed that the Prime Minister, at the recent All India Chief Secretaries’ meeting, devoted “nearly 20 minutes to the Nagaland’s potential,” emphasising national focus on infrastructure and development in the region. 

In his speech, BAN President L Mongkum Jamir said, with age on his side, Ds Alam’s vast experience and dedication can continue to serve the nation, tremendously impacting citizens across the country. He appreciated Dr Alam’s prompt response to BAN’s proposals, citing the swift posting of a Joint Director at the MSME Directorate as a notable initiative, and assured that pending matters would be pursued with his successor.
