Banking services for state in ‘un-banked areas’

Mokokchung, February 7 (DIPR): State Bank of India (SBI) Mokokchung Office has been implementing one of its major policies of bringing ‘rural people’ under its banking network. Under the policy SBI engages NGOs to provide banking services in ‘un-banked areas’.
Making a power presentation in the monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) at DC’s conference hall on February 7, SBI Chief Manager Mokokchung, V.K Ojha said Nagaland state would also be included in the networking shortly. Started functioning since 1969, SBI has now six Branches in Mokokchung district and it has Credit Deposits ratio of `101 crore deposits and `132 crore advances.  Chief Manager in his presentation also enlightened the heads of offices about the facilities provided by SBI in the district. He also highlighted salary package facilities extended to armed forces and police personnel. Meanwhile V.K Ojha informed the meeting that no fresh personal loans shall be sanctioned till further order as he had received instruction from Head Office, Dimapur. He sought the cooperation of Heads of offices in the district to bring it to the notice of their respective employees.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mokokchung also enlightened the officers by showing power point presentation on the activities of KVK in the district.  
Earlier, the meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Lithrongla G. Chishi unanimously decided forward to the state government with a strong recommendation for setting up a B.Ed College at Mokokchung town. During discussions the meeting felt that setting up a B. Ed College at Mokokchung would not only help the Mokokchung district but it would also immensely help its neighbouring districts such as Longleng and Tuensang.
Lithrongla Chishi also expressed her appreciation to all concerned, especially Agri & Allied departments, Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare, Mokokchung Municipal Council, Welfare Department for their participation in the tableau presentation on Republic Day celebration.
