Basketball court and water tank under NFMP in Tsungiki village inaugurated

Tsungiki JFMC under NFMP inaugurated a basketball court at Jubilee Ground, Tsungiki village.

The Tsungiki Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) under the National Forestry Management Project (NFMP) inaugurated a basketball court under Entry Point Activity (EPA) and a water tank under Water Harvesting Structure (WHS). The event was held under the theme “Towards a Sustainable Future” at Jubilee Ground, Tsungiki Village on May 20.

The inauguration was conducted by Suman W M Sivachar, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and Head of the Divisional Management Unit (DMU), Wokha Forest Division and Doyang Plantation Division. The dedication was offered by T Mhao Kikon, Pastor, Tsungiki Baptist Church.

In his speech, Suman W M Sivachar congratulated JFMC Tsungiki for their wonderful and innovative work and expressed gratitude for the community’s contribution towards the successful completion of the EPA and WHS. He stated that the EPA is one of a kind under the project and hoped that players representing the tribe, district, state, and nation would emerge from the village. He also elaborated on the works executed under NFMP and encouraged the community to participate actively in various project-related activities. He further highlighted the staff shortage the division is currently facing, but assured that efforts are ongoing to address issues within the district, while appealing for continued community cooperation.

Er Sangmou Khiamniungan, NCS, EAC, Chukitong, also congratulated the JFMC and the entire NFMP team for the excellent work executed under the project. He encouraged the community to make judicious use of the assets created and challenged the youth to strive for excellence, stating that true success would be when the court produces players who represent the state and the nation.

Jonny, JFMC President, in his address expressed gratitude to the NFMP team for the financial support and technical assistance extended to the village. He mentioned that nearly 70% of the work under the EPA was contributed by the community and encouraged everyone to continue supporting the initiatives in the days ahead.
