Kohima, November 28 (MExN): MLA 10th Northern Angami - I Assembly Constituency, Khriehu Liezietsu inaugurated the Bayavü Gate located at Bayavü main junction, Kohima as the special guest on November 28.
Inaugurating the gate, Khriehu said that it was a significant day for everyone, as a village gate or a community gate carries deep meanings with different messages, stated a DIPR report.
“In the olden days the gates were built at the entries and exits and also at some strategic locations to prevent rivals and enemies to enter the villages, however, today’s gates were not built for prevention anymore rather it was built for welcoming and it also symbolises unity,” Khriehu said.
Regarding the designs and motifs of the gate which represented different tribes, Khriehu described it as an expression of unity with a message of peace and harmony for a progressive Naga modern society. He hoped that the message would go far and wide across society and further believed that Bayavü would become one of the model colonies for the rest of the state.
The Convenor of the Ward Adoption Committee, SDO (C) Kohima Sadar, Chonpenthung Ezung said Bayavü ward under 10th Northern Angami -I A/C has been selected for adoption for the year 2022-23 under the aegis of Kohima District Planning and Development Board.
The Ward Adoption Committee led by MLA Khriehu with officers from District Administration and line departments along with Bayavü Panchayat has been undertaking various programmes for the betterment of the colony people. He said that the long-awaited dream of the colony people could be achieved through the efforts and financial contribution of MLA Khriehu and wished that through this gate more understanding and blessing may prevail among the colony people.
Chairman Bayavü Area Panchayat, Khinyi Woch delivered the introductory note while Senior Pastor Central Baptist Church Kohima offered the dedicatory prayer.
