Fellow Nagas, we have heard with our ears and we have seen with our eyes that we, the Nagas and the Indians are quite different each other. We, Nagas are not Indians at all and our land (Nagaland) is never a part of India. We are a Nation.
With all known facts, we the Nagas are inherently a sovereign independent people and a free Nation in nature of our lifestyle and practices. Every Naga village was a republic by tradition. But the British intruded our country in 1832 and distorted our birthright of sovereignty and freedom. Therefore, the sovereign independent Naga people democratically constituted the Naga National Council (NNC) on 2nd February, 1946 at Wokha Village with the evolution of the modern world to unitedly safeguard the sovereign Birthright of our people as a Nation. Thus the mandated NNC, under the extraordinary leadership of NNC President AZ Phizo, father of the Naga Nation, had unshakably laid all the inalienable milestones of our Nation, such as:
• The Naga National Council (NNC) formally declared the age-old Naga Independence on 14th August, 1947 in Kohima one day ahead before India was set free by the British on 15th August, 1947, and on the same day, NNC informed India by Telegram, and Cabled to HMG and the UNO for information and record.
• The NNC conducted Naga voluntary Plebiscite of thumb impression on 16th May, 1951. The result was 99.9% to remain as a sovereign Nation.
• The Naga people adopted only one Resolution on 12th April, 1955 at Tuophema Village and the resolution was ratified by the NNC on 27th April, 1955 at Lakhuti Village in NNC Session.
The resolution reads:
Any person or persons who in order to destroy or undermine the integrity and the well-being of Nagaland, and who for this purpose act, abet or set up organizations against or oppose the political, Administrative and Traditional institutions of the Nation, or an attempt to do so, whether with or without the aid of another country or countries, shall be deemed to have committed TREASON.
• The NNC drafted the Yehzabo (constitution) of Nagaland and approved it on 12th January, 1956 after reading three times.
• The NNC established the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) through a federation of all Nagas on 22nd March, 1956 at Parashen.
• The NNC made the Naga National Flag through the inspiration of God and this National flag was for the first time hoisted on 22nd March, 1956 in the function of FGN establishment day, the first Nagaland Republic Day.
• The NNC/FGN thereby made the 77 words’ Vocabulary of the Naga Nation, like; Yehzabo, Oking, Kedahge, Kedallo, Ato Kilonser, Killo Kilonser, other Killonsers, Tatar Hoho, Tatar, Leacy Hoho, Leacy, Razou Peyu and the rest.
The above mentioned milestones have been laid by the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) for our people and Nation. So the defectors, impostors or factions have no right to use this vocabulary of our Nation.
Thus, the NNC/FGN and the true Nagas have sacrificed their lives and their all in defence of our Nation since 1946 with the people’s mandate.
Besides, India invaded our country in October, 1955. Thus BN Mullik, Chief of Indian Intelligence in his Book “My Years With Nehru”, 1946-1964 pp.308 unequivocally wrote, “Troops moved into Tuensang by October, 1955 and the war with the Nagas started from then.”
As a result, the undeclared Indo-Naga war of naked invasion on Nagas by India was fought in Nagaland from 1955 to 1964. But later an International Ceasefire Agreement was signed between the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) and the Government of India (GOI) in May 1964 at Sakraba Village through the initiative of 3 Peace Mission Members, namely; Rev. Michael Scott, a British and an International Peacemaker, Jayaprakash Narayan, a Sarvodaya leader from India and Bimala Prasad Chaliha, the then Chief Minister of Assam. So the Agreement was officially effected on 6th September, 1964. The NNC/FGN therefore upholds the Agreement till date, though India says/does this or that.
• Amidst the unauthorized Naga People’s Convention (NPC) did sign a 16 Point Agreement with India, the invader and created a puppet state of India in Nagaland on 1st December, 1963. So this so-called NPC betrayed the Naga Nation and it became the first faction among the Nagas by stealing the blood, tears and sweats of the NNC/FGN and true Naga Nationals. Hence any Naga who took oath in the name of Almighty God to protect/preserve the constitution and integrity of India was/is not a true Naga, but a betrayer.
• The So-called Revolutionary group was then formed on 2nd November, 1968, but this group surrendered to India on 16th August, 1973.
• The So-called National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) led by Isak Swu, Th. Muivah, S.S. Khaplang and Khole was thereafter formed on 31st January, 1980 by defecting from NNC/FGN and they have so far murdered about 4000 Nagas. Later the NSCN was divided into two groups on 30th April, 1988 known as NSCN-IM and NSCN-K and then sub-divided one after another into many groups of NSCN.
When AZ Phizo, President, NNC suddenly died in London on 30th April, 1990, the Naga people unanimously elected Eli Adinno Phizo as the successive President of NNC on 12th May, 1990 at Kohima Village. Then the so-called New NNC led by Khodao Yanthan was formed. Then other fake NNC groups and fake NNC/FGNs of late occurred to hijack the people mandate from NNC and still it is on the run with total lies and failure. So our people must discern the right and the wrong, as a true Naga and do the right. So that everything will be okay.
The Naga National Council (NNC) is the sole political institution of the Naga Nation and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) is the only legitimate Government of Nagaland. Therefore the mandated NNC/FGN in conclusion appeals to all fellow Nagas to unite again under the banner of NNC as before. So that no one can stop us, lest we fall.
