Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): A community of north-eastern non-governmental organizations has urged the armed Naga groups to consider the wellbeing of civilians and local populations in Nagaland who are enduring the brunt of “factional fights.” The North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF), a conglomerate of various NGOs, religious bodies, academia, intellectuals and social activists from the north east, expressed deep concern at the escalating “factional fights” in Nagaland, specifically in Athibung of Peren district and Zunheboto district. A note from convener of the forum, U. Nobokishore, expressed sadness at the death toll from the factional violence since December 22, 2011, which has now risen to five. “The more distressing fact is that the innocent people, including women and children, are facing danger even while inside their homes,” the NGOs stated. The NGO urges the groups to maintain maximum concern taking into account the presence of local populace who has been bearing the horror for the past many days and years. It also appeals to immediately stop the fighting with the spirit of love and peace as bloodshed and killing is not the answer.
