Kohima, October 31 (MExN): The Benreuli Nkwa, Kohima, celebrated its 52nd Lamsimngyi Festival with great enthusiasm and unity at Duolhou Garden, Billy Graham Road, Kohima on 31 October 2025.
The 52nd Lamsimngyi celebration served as a reminder of the Benreu community’s enduring unity, faith and commitment to cultural preservation. The event marked a day of thanksgiving, rekindling family relationship and reflection on the community’s shared heritage and values.
Addressing the gathering, Keherang Lungalang, an elder of the community encouraged the younger generation to excel in the field of education and to carry forward the values and vision of their forefathers.
He reminded the community that the Benreu people have celebrated 125 years of Christianity, a testament to their faith and endurance.
He also reflected on the legacy of the elders, noting that “the good deeds our forefathers have done for us continue to bear fruit today.”
Speaking on social values, he urged young unmarried girls to think carefully before making commitments in marriage, particularly when considering intermarriage with non-Nagas, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural identity and heritage.
He also urged the community to Lungalang also highlighted the significance of the festival, recalling the history of our forefathers and how far we have come as a community.
Kiesano Nsarangbe gave away awards and certificate for students with excellent performance in HSLC & HSSLC.
