In a commendable display of community engagement and social responsibility, the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, orchestrated a Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign in Tuensang town on October 30.

The spotlight of the event was on the active participation of the young girls from Bethel Children's Home, Tuensang, who took charge of cleaning the surroundings of the iconic Clock Tower and Badminton Stadium.

Under the guidance of Throngji Yimkhiung, the caring and nurturing caretaker, and owner of Bethel Home, approximately 15 enthusiastic girls adorned themselves with cleaning gear and armed with brooms to kickstart the cleanliness drive. The campaign, aiming to instill a sense of civic responsibility and cleanliness among citizens, witnessed the dedication and zeal of these young participants.

The Clock Tower and Badminton Stadium, the epicenter of the cleanliness drive, received meticulous attention from the diligent efforts of the young brigade. The laughter and camaraderie among the girls not only reflected the spirit of the campaign but also the joy that stems from contributing to the betterment of their community.

Throngji Yimkhiung, the guiding force behind Bethel Children's Home, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in nurturing a sense of responsibility and community pride among the younger generation. "It's not just about cleaning the surroundings; it's about fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility towards our town. These girls are not just the future, but they are actively shaping the present," he said.

Local residents and onlookers were impressed by the initiative, with many expressing their appreciation for the Department of Social Welfare and Bethel Children's Home for spearheading such a meaningful campaign. The Swachhata Hi Sena movement, echoing the larger Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aims to make cleanliness a collective responsibility, and events like these serve as shining examples of how small actions can lead to significant impacts.

The campaign concluded with a sense of accomplishment and a promise to continue the momentum of cleanliness and community engagement. As Tuensang town basks in the afterglow of the SHS campaign, it stands not just cleaner but also richer in community spirit and shared responsibility, thanks to the enthusiastic efforts of the young girls from Bethel Children's Home.
