Bhandari, July 16 (MExN): The Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) meeting for Bhandari was held on Thursday, with a focus on addressing power supply issues and approving development schemes for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

A DIPR report stated here that the meeting, chaired by ADC and Vice Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, reviewed previous minutes and deliberated extensively on electricity and power supply challenges plaguing the sub-division. The house subsequently approved schemes under the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2026-2027 for 40A/C Bhandari and recommended them to the government for final clearance.

Officials also presented updates on key infrastructure and welfare initiatives. VAS Quarantine Check Post officer Dr. Kikali G. Sumi reported that surveillance, monitoring, and awareness programmes on the Livestock Insurance Scheme were successfully conducted across Bhandari sub-division in June 2026. The initiative, she said, aimed to encourage farmers to adopt Scientific Livestock Management and bio-security measures to curb economic losses from disease outbreaks. She also highlighted the number of livestock insured under the National Livestock Mission.

Er Elithung Ovung, SDO (R&B) PWD, apprised the house that construction work on the Nagaland Foothill Road has been largely completed, with only rectification work remaining on select patches, including bridge work, approach slabs, toe walls, and river apron works, which are currently in progress.

Earlier, Lotha lauded Census 2027 officials for their diligent work within the sub-division and urged them to ensure no eligible citizen is left out during enumeration. He also called upon all officers based in Bhandari sub-division to extend continuous support for the successful and accurate completion of the census exercise.

The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House in Bhandari.
