Kohima, May 26 (MExN): The Department of Economics and Statistics (DES), Nagaland has reiterated that all registrations of Births and Deaths in the State will be carried out exclusively through the online system with effect from June 1, 2026, as part of the transition to 100% registration.
In an official communication issue through the DIPR, the department clarified that all Birth and Death Certificates issued manually before June 1, 2026, shall remain valid for all official purposes, and no citizen will be required to obtain fresh certificates solely due to digitisation.
The department stated that the digitisation of manually issued certificates will be an ongoing process across the state. Delayed registration of Births and Deaths through the online system will continue as per the notified procedures issued earlier.
Citizens have been advised to ensure that all future registrations of Births and Deaths are carried out only through the designated online registration system.
All District Registrars, Registrars and Registration Units have been directed to facilitate a smooth transition to the online system and extend necessary assistance to the public during the transition period.
The department further informed that citizens may approach the concerned District Registrars or Registration Units for any assistance or clarification.
