The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland, on May 29 organised a ticket distribution ceremony for the forthcoming Wokha Town Council (WTC) Ward No. 8 bye-election 2026 at the District BJP Office in Wokha.
During the programme, the BJP ticket was formally handed over to intending candidate Mhomo Humtsoe for the forthcoming WTC Ward No. 8 by-election. A special prayer and blessing for the candidate was later offered by Nrikhon Ngullie, Deacon of WTBC.
Speaking at the programme, Humtsoe expressed gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in him and appealed for continued support and cooperation from party leaders, workers and well-wishers.
“I express my sincere gratitude to the party leadership and members for entrusting me with this responsibility. While securing the party ticket is an honour, I also humbly seek the continued support and cooperation of party workers and leaders, both at the district and state levels,” he said.
Humtsoe further stated that, if elected, he would remain committed to working for the welfare and development of the colony, society and the party.
“If elected by the grace of God, my foremost commitment will be to work with dedication and sincerity for the betterment of the colony, society and the party,” he added.

Former BJP candidate and State Council Member of BJP Nagaland, Renponthung Ezung, also addressed the gathering and extended support to the intending candidate.
Ezung said he had known and worked alongside Humtsoe since their student days and described him as a socially committed individual who had consistently contributed towards the welfare of society.
Stating that the by-election would be a friendly contest, Ezung expressed hope for a smooth, free and fair electoral process and called upon party workers to remain united and work collectively for the success of the party in the forthcoming by-election.
The programme was chaired by President of 38 A/C BJP, Jenithung Lotha, and attended by party leaders, workers and supporters.
The programme commenced with an invocation pronounced by Abi Humtsoe, Secretary of BJP Wokha Unit, followed by a welcome address delivered by Rhanbemo Odyuo, President of BJP Wokha. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Khochobeni Odyuo, Secretary of BJP Wokha Unit.
Subsequently, party members accompanied the intending candidate for the filing of nomination for the WTC Ward No. 8 bye-election 2026 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Wokha, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Renbomo Ezung served as the Returning Officer.
NPF backs Ar Aling Lotha
Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has issued its ticket to Ar Aling Lotha for the upcoming WTC Ward 8 bye-poll, an official DIPR update informed.
With the filing of nominations, the bye-election process for Ward-8 under the Wokha Town Council has officially commenced, marking the beginning of the electoral proceedings.
