Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): The BJP Mahila Morcha Nagaland Unit has issued a clarification regarding the recent statements issued by various organisations and subsequent opinions from different quarters on the BJP Mahila Morcha leaders.
“Human rights violation is condemnable on all accounts, and we also express concern over AFSPA. Yet, the Raksha Bandhan event at no point supports this Act. A political party has people of all communities and faith and when organised and invited, as party leaders, the said individuals whose names were mentioned in some statement participated in the event,” Media Cell, BJP Mahila Morcha, Nagaland Unit clarified.
On the question of participating in certain ceremony, it stated that “...as a National leader in the party and by virtue of the post held is invited to many meetings, events and functions within and outside the state. As a leader, one has to show respect to the faith and cultures of the places she is invited to because religious tolerance and respect for all communities and faith is expected from all in a secular, democratic country.”
It further clarified that “As a political party in our state, when our Central leaders come, we organise programs according to our faith and culture and everyone participate in it.” The picture with the agarbatti was when the National Secretary, Mahila Morcha was invited to Bokajan, Assam for their executive meeting where they paid respect and honor to the party’s founding members as per their custom, it added.
