Dimapur, December 30 (MExN): Scores of houses were burnt and three people killed in two villages of Mon district - Yakshu and Yangkhao village on December 20 and 21.
In order to help the victims in these two remote villages – Yakshu and Yangkhao of Mon district, a relief campaign was organized on facebook by The Naga Blog with the help of Nagaland.Open.Online.BarterorSell (N.O.O.B.S.) after hearing the news on the radio.
Donations started pouring in from concerned bloggers in Nagaland and beyond through cash and kind. In just two days of running the online campaign, the group was able to collect cash amounting to Rs 64,200 and relief supplies consisting of about 15 huge bags of clothes, fuel, utensils, blankets etc.  The team was informed that 24 houses had been burnt including the church office with a sound system worth 1.4 lakh, pastor’s residence, the village granary where the entire stock of about 500 tin of grains was completely destroyed, 9 pigs, poultry, domesticated animals and the only shop in the village had been burnt to ashes.
This is not the first time that Naga bloggers have been involved in social causes. The facebook groups – “The Naga Blog” and “Nagaland.Open.Online.Barter or Sell (N.O.O.B.S.)” have constantly proven the power of online social networking.
