Blood donation awareness programme held at MITE, Kohima

Students donate blood during the blood donation awareness programme organised by the Red Ribbon Club of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima on September 12.

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): A blood donation awareness programme was organised on Friday by the Red Ribbon Club of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima, on the theme “Donate Blood Responsibly, Prevent HIV Globally.”

The programme, held at the MITE Auditorium, featured Dr. Avila Sangtam, in-charge of the Blood Centre, NHAK, as resource person. He highlighted the importance of blood donation as a life-saving act as well as its health benefits for donors, including stimulating fresh blood production and lowering risks of certain illnesses.

A total of 194 student-teachers and faculty members participated in the programme, which included sessions, poems, songs, photography and slogan writing competitions to promote the message of responsible blood donation.

The event also witnessed a voluntary blood donation drive, with several participants donating blood. Organisers said the initiative aimed to spread awareness on safe and responsible donation practices while inspiring others to contribute.
