Dimapur is set to witness a ‘one of a kind’ Liamtra Fashion Night on October 22 at Hotel Acacia. In a bid to do their part in elevating Nagaland’s fashion industry, three established Naga personalities, designer Bambi Kevichusa, fashion model Opang Jamir Metsubo and Piano maestro Nise Meruno has come together under the name – BOND J ARTistry to produce their first ever show in collaboration with Liamtra. Liamtra is a travel application which was conceptualized in Nagaland in the year 2019 and launched in New Delhi. Opang is the brand ambassador of Liamtra.
Addressing the media fraternity at a press conference held at Hotel Acacia today, Bambi said that fashion and music are the two industries in Nagaland that has come a long way over the past seven to eight years. With fashion fast catching up and the state witnessing a lot of fashion events lately, she said that BOND J ARTistry is their personal initiative to help promote and elevate the fashion industry. It is an establishment for model management, scouting talents, events, training & marketing, curator, mentoring and skill development located in Dimapur. Bambi said that this event is just a small step towards a bigger dream.
The ‘tastefully and specially curated’ fashion night will feature some of the best models from the North East walking the ramp. Nagaland’s very own actress and model Andrea Kevichusa; former Kingfisher Miss Arunachal 2019, Femina Miss India Arunachal and winner of MTV Supermodel of the year 2022 Season-02 Roshni Dada; first Naga ramp model Esther Jamir, Mizo supermodel, actress and artiste, Femina Miss India Mizoram 2019 Nunui Rualhleng; Femina Miss India Nagaland 2018, celebrity model and content creator Ruopfuzhano Whiso are some names who will be headlining the fashion night.
Maintaining that the event is being organised to promote the Naga garment and fashion industry, Meruno said that it will showcase collections of five Naga designers where the attendees will get a glimpse into some of Nagaland’s best known designs. Nine female models and seven male models will be walking the ramp. Priced at Rs 3000 (admit one), he said that a lot of effort is being put into the entire event and that it will be worth it.
The dream of the team is to make Dimapur a ‘fashion centre’ for the fashion industry where others from across the globe can partner with them and lead the way forward for even more opportunities and employment for the youths in different fields. The team said that they hope to make this an annual event with not just fashion shows per se, but also organize seminars and workshop on the industry gradually.
With sports and other departments flourishing in the state, the team is optimistic into making the fashion industry a full-time career in the state as well. Models Roshni Dada, Nunui Rualhleng, Esther Jamir, Ruopfuzhano Whiso, Hangba Chang and Opang Jamir Metsubo were also present at the press conference.
Meanwhile, Meruno also revealed the meaning behind the name BOND J ARTistry which are the three initials of their first names and ‘D’ stood for Dimapur. For the mysterious ‘J,’ “it will be revealed during the fashion night,” he quipped.
The artist lineup for the show includes Abdon Mech, Akho Chielie, Colored Keys, Eva Jamir, Imliakum Aier, Kecha Zumvu, Mughapuka Phuleshe, Nikato Tamang and Tokaholi Chishi. The event is slated to begin at 7:00 pm, and for ticket bookings, one can call the numbers: 8118989242/8415935254.
