Mokokchung, October 7 (MExN): A book titled, ‘Folk Dance as Ecumenical Communication: A Theological Vision and Mission’ authored by Rev Dr A Temjen Jamir, Academic Dean, Clark Theological College (CTC) was dedicated and formally released by Prof Mar Pongener, Principal, CTC at the Jongshinokdang Hall, CTC on October 7.
In his brief note, the author said that the book is his attempt to investigate how the celebration of Naga cultural festivals and folk dance can help bring the people together on a common platform for interaction and participation irrespective of their status, background and religious affiliation.
“Observing, participating and experiencing Naga cultural festivals during the past several years motivated me to explore the essence of ecumenical relations mechanism in Naga folk dance,” the author said.
In his remark, Prof Imsutoshi Jamir, who wrote foreword for the book said that among many, author’s main contribution in this researched publication is his attempt to read, explore and the method of interpreting Naga folk dance as text. “The present book can be valued as crucial and undeniable strength in Tribal/Naga Cultural Studies,” Jamir said.
While releasing the book Prof Mar Pongener congratulated the author and said that the Clark community admires Dr Temjen for his sincerity and sound academic and contextual approach in all his writings. Prof Mar further said, “We are not only happy but truly excited that CTC is releasing fourth well researched academic books during this COVID-19 pandemic lock down months.”
