Bookipedia web based library management system was launched at Bookipedia Free Library located inside Urban Hub Café, Mokokchung on June 17. The web-based library management system was developed by final year students of Institute of Communication & Information Technology (ICIT), Department of Computer Engineering, Mokokchung.

The project was part of the final year students’ curriculum as well as a community-focused project, according to Er Lanusenla Longkumer, Principal, ICIT. “It is also our obligation as a technical institute to assist and give back to the community, and this project is one such effort,” she said. The system was developed by the students with the help of two lecturers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Er N Yibenthung Tungoe and Er Temjenmeren Longchari.

Sentilong Ozukum, one of Bookipedia's founders, commended the ICIT faculty and students for their free assistance in establishing the web-based library management system, which he said was a much-needed service for the library. He also thanked the institute for planting the seeds, and said that Bookipedia will fully utilise the technology and help it grow.

Bookipedia, the Free Library, was founded in 2019 by a group of like-minded young people with the goal of promoting the art of reading in Mokokchung. Over 1500 books are available for free reading and borrowing. The library is located inside the Urban Hub café located at Old Town Hall Road, Mokokchung.
