DIMAPUR, MARCH 20 (MExN): The Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO Dimapur has informed that one accused involved in the kidnapping of two students was arrested by a team of Dimapur Police and Special Branch on 20th March 2012 after Police investigating the case identified him as one of the main accused in the abduction. The two students who were abducted are Sabir Khan S/O Manzul Khan, and his cousin Asish Khan S/O Ali Ahmed Khan, both Dimapur based businessmen.
According to the press note from the Dimapur police, the students were abducted on 15th March 2012 and released on 17th March 2012, reportedly after paying a hefty sum as ransom for their release. The accused is identified as Bohoi (36 yrs) S/o Late Yekikhe Aye of Khehoyi village, Dhansiripar Sub-Division.
The accused admitted to being involved in the abduction of the victims for personal gain. On interrogation of his involvement in the crime, he stated that the victims were abducted from Khermahal area using his vehicle (Swift) bearing R/No NL07/8576 which was recovered and seized by Police. The victims were then taken to Khehoyi village where they were kept confined at his house till their release. A case has been registered at West Police Station and further investigation is going on to arrest the other accused involved in the abduction who have been identified by Police.
