Bridge over Langake River in Tsg inaugurated

Tuensang, December 16 (DIPR): The Bridge over Langake River was inaugurated by Minister for PWD (R&B) Nagaland G. Kaito Aye as the chief guest in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary IPR, Economic & Statistics & Chairman DPDB Tuensang, R. Tohanba and MLA & Advisor, VG, DB and GB Affairs, Kijong Chang on December 15.
At the outset the chief guest appreciated the contributions and efforts made by the people who are directly or indirectly involved in completing the project. He also called upon the people to have a development with vision in all developmental projects and for this he sought the co-operation from the people and also officially declared that the road from Kuthur to Chessore (26 K.M) will be taken up by the department. He added that Tuensang being the oldest district in the state should be next to Kohima and therefore requested all the Heads of Offices under Tuensang District to motivate the people of the area and ensure their participation for further development and bring forward prospective projects. He also felt that the National Highway of Tuensang needs to be seriously addressed and will make it effective in the 12th Plan.
The Langake River is 23 kms away from Tuensang HQ and the river has very important historical background where most of the Eastern Nagas migrated from Langa village in early civilization. The Langake River is also the boundary between Y. Awunru village and Kuthur village approximately 6 kms from Awunru and 13 kms away from Kuthur village. Langake River is the lifeline to the both village where its belt is very fertile and above 60-70% of the villagers depends on paddy. The river is called Langa after the name of the historical Langa Village.
The VDBs of Kuthur and Y/Anner were allocated the project for construction of this R.C.C. Bridge at Langake River under MGNREGS during 2010-12 both material components and general program with a sum of Rs. 65 lakhs has been utilized for the construction.
Earlier, welcome address was proposed by Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Economic  & Statistics and Chairman DPDB Tuensang, R. Tohanba, a short report on construction of Langake Bridge was highlighted by Programme Officer, DRDA Tuensang, Tsalito Sangtam and a short speech on behalf of Chessore Administrative Circle was delivered by, Chairman, Village Council Chessore, Lakiumong.
Short speeches were also delivered by MLA & Advisor, VG, DB & GB Affairs, Kijong Chang Nagaland, Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), D. Mero and Deputy Commissioner Tuensang T. Mhabemo Yanthan.
The programme was chaired by EAC Chessore, Mhomo Tungoe and invocation prayer was pronounced by Pastor Y. Awunru Village Baptist Church, Pentsu while vote of thanks was proposed by ADC Shamator, T. Yanpvuthung Kikon. The highlights of the programme included special song and cultural presentation. After the inaugural function, of the Bridge over Langa River, the Tuensang DPDB annual programme was held at the spot with all the Heads of Offices under Tuensang district.
