Christmas holidays notified
 
Kohima, December 5 (DIPR):
In partial modification to this department’s Notification vide No. GAB/GEN/16/2010 dated November 15, 2010 the Government of Nagaland is pleased to declare Christmas Holidays for 9 (nine) days w.e.f. December 23 to 31, 2011.

DoNER Minister conducts review meeting
 
Kohima, December 5 (DIPR)
: Union Minister of State for DoNER and Minister for State for Parliamentary Affairs, Paban Singh Ghatowar conducted a review meeting on the ongoing projects under NLCPR and NEC in Nagaland on December 5 at Hotel Japfu. Paban said that although Nagaland is marching towards development, more effort should be made so as to have the projects under NLCPR and NEC completed in time. He also mentioned that the land ownership issue is showing down the progress of development of the State and requested the State Government to look into the matter. Minister for Planning, T.R. Zeliang said that Nagaland does not have a National Project and requested the DoNER Minister to support the State in setting up such a project. The meeting was attended by AHoDs and HoDs of the State Government.

Governor appeals charity for armed forces’ welfare

Dimapur, December 5 (MExN):
As the country’s military community observes Armed Forces Flag Day, Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar appeals to all citizens to contribute to the welfare of serving personnel, war casualties and former servicemen and their families. Extending greetings to all rank and file of the armed forces especially those serving in Nagaland, a message from the governor said today that the occasion observed on December 7 every year commemorates the supreme sacrifice of the nation’s soldiers in protecting, defending and upholding the country and her people.  Governor Kumar stated – “Our state, Nagaland, is also observing the Armed Forces Flag Day on 7th of December, 3011. Token flags are distributed on this day in return for a small voluntary contribution. The amount so collected is used for the welfare of serving personnel, war casualties, ex-servicemen and their families. I appeal to all citizens to donate generously to the Armed Forces Flag day fund to serve this noble cause.”
