Fourteen November draws nearer by the minute and in a matter of hours we are already there. How many of us will choose to celebrate this day? Perhaps you would think you are not a kid anymore to indulge yourself in some children’s day celebration. It’s all kids stuff. What have elders got to do with the day? Well you could be miserably wrong! Half the joy we know in life is because we were children once. And indeed, the presence of children have that magical affect. Do you know of any moment spent so remorsefully with them around? It goes without saying but it needs to be echoed bcause the fact is just so true. You could ignore it but you can’t deny it. In the presence of children, you will always find yourself smiling whether you realise it or not. Do you know the charm they sprinkle on everybody even without trying?
Their innocence and sincerity is nothing less than admirable. In a world filled with corruption and lots of other evil thoughts and doings, isn’t it nice to know that there are children to make us forget our worries, put aside our heavy cares and just for some moment in their presence relax, feeling spirited and lively? We may not talk about their effective presence often but there is nothing like spending time with them. You go crazy, doing things you never knew you are capable of doing, you try crying like them, you giggle and scream, try talking like them and somehow you are having a hell lot of fun. You will always end up being happy. They are indeed bundles of joys. No, not babies alone. Children never fail to colour our days.
So, what have we got to give them on an occassion like this?Perhaps there’s nothing left to give. They seem to have it all. Pure innocence, happiness ( What do they worry about? Their hearts are problem free, heartache free, without chasing happiness, they own it), contentment (They never ask for more, they are just satisfied being themselves, they are not jealous and enviable of other people’s looks, they do not wish they were more beautiful or have more than what they own, they relish on what they have), a peaceful mind ( They have never wronged people, never harmed others, never done anything with an evil intentio).
But they’ve got to step into the real world and see much more someday. And the legacy we leave behind has much to do with their living. Their generation will naturally follow the ways that today’s youth and elders follow. The way we tread our days will either influence them for better or worse. This much we can do. Pave a way for a fruitful life for them while we ourselves gain from it. Eventually, the footprints we leave behind will help them grow as better persons. We should also never forget that children can be the sweetest and best teachers of them all. Their values are priceless. We can take them in to make our lives more sublime. Bring out the child in you again. Live the day. Celebrate it. And yes, be childlike because nothing beats the beauty of it.
