WSSU general conference concludes
Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): The 36th general conference of Western Sumi Students’ Union concluded at Khekiho village on a positive note with hundreds of students who attended the conference resolving to “strife for a glorious generation” – the theme of the conference, during the valedictory session on January 18 evening.
Gracing the concluding session as valedictory guest, Y. Vikheho Swu, parliamentary secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control encouraged the students to continue to uphold the union and its value, that bring young people together in unity while providing platform to share experiences and knowledge.
Vikheho said the society especially the student community should have a strong social support system to uplift one another in whatever way possible. He further stated competing in numbers with wrong motive and communication gap leads to division and ism which ultimately results in psychological warfare and other worsening conflict.
He was of the view that students’ unions can play a pivotal role in solving various social problems by way of conducting varieties of workshops and seminars to educate the people.
Pointing out that the building of a strong nation or a society depends on education, Vikheho said the importance of education cannot be compared with anything, and in student’s life nothing is more important than education. He therefore urged the students to seek education that comes along with wisdom. He also inaugurated the website of the union.
Greeting the students, Zheshito Swu, vice president, Western Sumi Hoho reminded students that there was no greater weapon than to be armed with education. He also urged students’ community to be flag bearers in fostering brotherhood among Naga people.
Toni Aye, cultural secretary, WSSU chaired the concluding session while Mughato N. Awomi, president, WSSU proposed vote of thanks.
