The newly appointed Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen held a meeting with representatives of the 5 Tribes CoRRP (Core Committee on Reservation Policy Review) at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Room, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on Monday morning.
According to the CoRRP General Secretary, the meeting, following an invitation extended on August 2, discussed the core demands submitted by the group and the State Government’s response to date.
During the discussion, the Chief Secretary informed the CoRRP representatives that the State Cabinet is scheduled to meet on August 6 to take a final decision on the demands. These include the framing of the Terms of Reference and the composition of the proposed Commission. It was also informed that the Chief Secretary has assured the matter would be addressed within the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, awaiting the outcome of the Cabinet meeting, the proposed third phase of agitation has been put on hold at the request of the State Government, the committee stated.
Formed in August 2023, the CoRRP represents five Naga tribes—Ao, Sema, Lotha, Angami, and Rengma—and has been demanding a review of the reservation policy, which has remained unchanged for the past 48 years.
In addition to submitting multiple memoranda, the CoRRP organised a peaceful protest across the five tribal districts on May 29. Reiterating its demand, the group also held a sit-in protest at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat on July 9, 2025.
