Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): The advocacy campaign on HIV and AIDS with the key stakeholders was held on February 18 at Tzudikong Town by the NNP+ in partnership with Ao Students’ Union Tzudikong Town (ASUTT) through support from Legislators Forum on HIV, Nagaland.
NNP+ President, Chongtie Shiu in a press note said that the guest speaker, L.Temjen Jamir, MLA & Advisor, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency while speaking on the theme “Together we can !”, strongly stated that the elected leaders at the highest level have made the decision to extend support towards HIV response in the state and therefore he called upon the key stakeholders i.e. administration, churches, town council and panchayats, women association (Watsu), Youth, Students, Intellectuals, NGOs to take the ownership in addressing the prevailing HIV issues in the community and offer holistic care and support to those who are living with HIV.
During short open interaction, it was recommended that HIV and AIDS issues concerning awareness programme on HIV and AIDS, reducing Stigma, blood test, involvement of people living with HIV and AIDS, care and support for People Living with HIV and AIDS to be initiated through core committee on HIV and AIDS comprised of all the key stakeholders of Tzudikong headed by Administration for bringing greater impact to the cause.
A short welcome note was addressed by Chubatemjen, SDO (C), Tuli, while Takusangla, Project Manager, DIC, Tzudikong highlighted the current scenario of HIV and AIDS. Dr. Amenla, SMO, Tuli briefly shared on the basics of HIV and AIDS and the services available in Tuli sub division. Wapang of NMP+ shared on how one can live positively. He thanked all the key stakeholders for extending their support and also asked them for their continual support in prevention, care and support towards HIV and AIDS. The programme which was attended by more than 300 key stakeholders was concluded with pronouncing a vote of thanks by Imtilepden, Vice President, Ao Students’ Union Tzudikong Town.
