Pfutsero, August 17 (MExN): Canara Bank, Pfutsero Branch, has extended financial assistance to students of Government Middle School (GMS) Leshemi under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Canara Vidya Jyoti Scholarship Scheme. The initiative, launched on August 15 sponsored scholarships for six girl students of the school.
Briefing about the scheme, Adani Thomas, Branch Manager, said the scholarship was part of Canara Bank’s broader vision “to foster educational empowerment and bridge the socio-economic divide by enabling access to quality education for all.” He noted that the main objective of the programme was to promote girls’ education and foster gender equity. He added that the scheme, a one-time scholarship, aimed to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Acknowledging the contribution, the school expressed gratitude to the bank and stated that the scholarship would make “a real difference in the lives of girl students giving them ample opportunities and prospects to pursue dreams and build a better future.” It further said that such inclusive and supportive initiatives, particularly for marginalized and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, would greatly benefit students.
The school added that this type of initiative would encourage enrolment and retention of girl students and foster equal opportunities in education.
