Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): A debate competition on human rights was held at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) on September 27 with the virtual participation of six teams of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) based in the North East. 

“The main aim of the debate was to sensitise the importance of strict adherence to human rights while dealing with the public,” a press release from ARTC&S informed. 

The six team of NE-based CAPF - BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, ITBP and Assam Rifles, participated in the contest, the release said, citing update from the security forces.

Keeping in view the ongoing pandemic scenario and limitations in gathering, the competition was held through webinar, it said. 

Vikas, IPS, DIG Nagaland Police; Bano Haralu, Senior Scientific Consultant  to Wild Life Conservation Society;  and Dr Chandra Shekhar Chaube, Regional Director, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Dimapur were the jury members of the competition.

A total of 24 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English with 12 speakers each ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion. 

The Assam Rifles secured the 1st Position and BSF secured 2nd position in English language debate category, while the Assam Rifles secured 1st position and CRPF secured 2nd position in the Hindi language category.

The best teams in both the English and Hindi categories namely Assam Rifles and BSF as well as CRPF have been selected to represent the Northeast zone in the  Semi-Finals of Inter-CAPF debate competition scheduled to be held in the month of October 2021, the release added.
