Kohima, October 27 (MExN): The Peren District Football Association (PDFA) Junior FC and Phek Town FC registered wins in their respective matches at the ongoing 9th Capt. N. Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2025 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
In the first match of the day, PDFA Junior FC (Peren) defeated Shamatorian FC (Shamator) with a commanding 6-0 victory. The Peren side dominated proceedings with 57% ball possession and consistent midfield control. Namheichube opened the scoring in the 10th minute and doubled the lead in the 43rd minute just before halftime.
Gaichuipoi added a hat-trick, finding the net in the 30th, 36th, and 71st minutes, while Ramchang sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal (80+1’) following a defensive lapse.
In the second match, Phek Town FC (Phek) edged past Damokles FC (Chümoukedima) 1-0. Mughuhu scored the decisive goal in the 65th minute to secure the win.
Despite dominating possession with 61.85% and registering 12 shots on target and 12 off target, Damokles FC failed to break through an inspired performance from Phek Town FC goalkeeper Mhashevoto, who kept a clean sheet.
