KIPHIRE, DECEMBER 27 (MExN): St John Church, Kiusam Town, organised a Career Guidance programme on December 27, 2025, themed “Charting Your Path to Success.”
Resource persons included K. Sudanvito Justin, Women Resource Development Officer (WRDO), Nagaland; Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu, Associate Priest, Kiusam Town; and Bro. Henry from Orien’s Theological College, Shillong.
Addressing the youth, Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu urged them to “chart your path to success” by dreaming big and working hard. He advised students from classes 6 to 8 to focus on developing skills and interests, those in classes 9 and 10 to prioritise decision-making, and students of classes 11 and 12 to prepare systematically for entrance exams such as JEE, NEET, CLAT, and IITs, through mock tests and time management. He also explained different academic streams, science, commerce, and arts, and motivated the youth by sharing the inspiring story of Indian-born Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, encouraging hard work for future success.

K Sudanvito Justin emphasised the theme “Believe in yourself even when no one else does.” Quoting Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken,” he highlighted that life is a journey and youth stand at a crossroads. He urged them not to fear challenges and to trust themselves to achieve goals. Citing Thomas Edison’s story, he said failure is not the end but a stepping stone to success, recalling Edison’s thousand attempts before inventing the light bulb.
Bro Henry quoted Winston Churchill, saying, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal.” He encouraged the youth to embrace learning and not fear mistakes, while advising them to avoid repeating errors and to grow stronger through challenges.
The event included fun learning sessions, treasure hunts, and group activities. Asang Mary thanked the resource persons and participants for their engagement. The day concluded with a communal meal.
