Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): Two days Sensitization training for ten CBOs on Project “Axshya” was held on August 30 and 31, 2011 at Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen’s Jubilee Memorial Conference Hall, Tuensang.
A press note issued by Kyupise Sangtam, District Coordinator, stated that the training was organized by the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) in collaboration with Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) and the RNTCP under Global Fund to Fight for AIDS, TB and Malaria round-nine TB project. Dr. Nono Kirha, MOTC Tuensang and Yangtipi Sangtam, Master trainer from EHA were the resource persons for the two days intensive training. The CBOs from ten different Self Help Groups representatives under Tuensang districts were given thorough training on Tuberculosis. The participants were given clear concept on Project Axshya on Tuberculosis, basic on TB, myths and misconception related to TB, stigma and discrimination attached to TB-HIV patients, Its treatment, prevention and social mobilization strategy and involvement of CBOs, Civil Societies towards the TB Cause and activities like sputum collection, transportation and retrieval of defaulter’s cases were trained by the RNTCP staff.
The note also mentioned that more than 20 participants were present during the two days intensive training. The CBOs will be implementing the Project Axshya in their respective district. The entire session was supplemented and facilitated by Kyupise Sangtam, district coordinator, CHAI Secunderabad.
