Kohima, July 6 (DIPR): The Directorate of Census Operation Ministry of Home Affairs, Kohima Nagaland released books of the Provisional Population Total Paper 2 Volume II of Nagaland for 2011, Housing Tables, Census 2011 and Houselisting Data Sheets of Census 2011. The Book release function was held at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on July 6 where Nagaland Chief Secretary, Lalthara, Chief Information Commissioner Lalhuma IAS (Rtd) and Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner Alemtemshi IAS graced the function and release the books.
Chief Secretary Lalthara who formally released the book of Housing Tables Census 2011 said that as the time grows census has becoming more detailed and complicated as it has also come down to house listing which provides very important data to town planners, businessmen, NGOs. He also thanked the DCO, Hekali Zhimomi IAS and officers for their achievement in the Census Operation and also went on to say that he is fortunate as a Chief Secretary for having the best team of officers with him.
Chief Information Commissioner Lalhuma IAS (Rtd) who released the book on Provisional Population Totals, Paper 2 Volume II while giving a short speech congratulated the Census Department for their achievement. Terming the Census 2011 as a spectacular achievement, he said that it is like a breath of fresh air which was made possible by team work and vision provided by administration headed by Chief Secretary and officers with involvement of civil societies, NGOs etc. Chief Information Commissioner also lauded DCO Hekali Zhimomi and her team for their dedication dynamism and initiative for bringing out record breaking census.
Lalhuma also mentioned some upcoming missions like NEPED, Bamboo Mission, Honey Mission through visionary dream and leadership of some outstanding officers. He said that Nagaland should be thankful for those officers of outstanding calibre and vision who have undertaken so many noble programmes for the benefit of the people. With all these achievements and programme, Nagaland will go strength to strength, he added.
Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi who released the book on Houselisting Data Sheets of Census 2011 in his short speech said that 2011 Census involved a lot of political will, civil societies and NGOs. He said that Census is very important as mankind started to count to measures on how much food they have, how many people are around and how to distribute among themselves for this very existence. He also said that Census has become so important and complicated that the normal people do not understand and pay attention to but for planners and policy makers census is an important ingredient to find out what is needed and where. If the planners and policy makers do not give attention to census the society will go hay wire, he added.
During the programme powerpoint presentation on Provisional Population Totals, Paper 2 Volume II and House Tables, Census 2011 was given by ADCO, Imkongnungsang and DCO, Hekali Zhimomi respectively. The programme was chaired by Deputy Director Nungsang Aier and the vote of thanks was proposed by SI-I M. Peseyie. The programme was attended by host of senior government officers, NGOs and Census department officials.
